As you’ve probably figured out, at SCORGOLF, we are declaring war on the short game. Not only have we designed equipment specifically your short game, we also developed the most advanced short game fitting system anywhere. We call it SCORFIT and it is unlike any fitting you’ve ever experienced before.
Every technology in SCOR4161 was designed to provide forgiveness and control in short irons and wedges. Depending on the golfer, short game shots start with a club that has more than 40° of loft, typically a 9-iron. Thus, SCOR4161 starts with a high-lofted iron that has 41° of loft and continues in 1° loft increments all the way through the 61° SCOR4161 lob wedge. Twenty-one lofts, from 41° to 61°.
Why should you replace your 9-iron and pitching wedge with SCOR4161? We’ve learned that more shots inside 140 yards are missed long and short than left and right. Most golf clubs today are designed with a very low center of mass to help golfers get the ball in the air. With a long iron that makes sense, but who has trouble getting a 9-iron or pitching wedge airborne? The fact is, high lofted irons with more than 40° of loft (such as a 9-iron or pitching wedge) designed with a low center of mass make it almost impossible to control the trajectory of the ball or hit that club the same distance on a consistent basis.
SCOR4161 is a muscle back progressively weighted head design that provides trajectory and distance control with short irons. As loft increases in SCOR4161 from 41° to 61°, the center of mass starts high and moves progressively lower to help you hit lower trajectory shots with the high lofted irons and high pitch shots with the wedges with ball-stopping spin. We also added forgiveness through just the right amount of heel/toe weighting in the cavity and our patented V-SOLE with both high and low effective bounce so you have the sole design for any lie.
So what SCOR4161 set is right for me? To help answer that question, we developed the SCORFIT Short Game Fitting System. SCORFIT takes a look in your bag and uses the irons you currently play to determine the highest lofted club you carry under 40°. Depending on how old your irons are, for most us that is an 8-iron. From there, SCORFIT creates a prescription for the perfect set of SCOR4161 for your game. SCOR4161 replaces your set matched 9-iron and pitching wedge, then continues to progress into your wedges. Depending on how many wedges you carry, that could be a set of five with 4° increments or a set of four with 5° increments. You can tweak that prescription anyway you want, SCORFIT was designed to help get you started. The goal is to create a set of SCOR4161 high lofted irons and wedges with consistent loft increments that are blended to your current irons and matched perfectly to your game, providing the ultimate in distance control and short game versatility for your golf bag.
